SHE SAID YES - LEOLA & MATT

SHE SAID YES - LEOLA & MATT

A beautiful celebration of love, family and union, Leola and Matt’s wedding was fun, emotional and eternally cool...

Over 3 days, we celebrated with friends and family who had travelled from all around the world, where love and nature intertwined in perfect harmony in an intimate and personal ceremony. Their celebration was filled with elegance and warmth, surrounded by loved ones. A perfect reflection of the impact they have made on their community, the love and commitment to one another and the playfulness and joy they share. Wishing them a lifetime of joy and happiness as they begin this beautiful journey together.

CP - Where did you guys get married?

L&M - We got married at Matt's parents' beautiful home in St Mary's Bay. It has a lush tropical garden, high ceilings and beautiful art. Their home always feels comfortable, relaxed, and stylish, which perfectly suits the occasion we had in mind!

CP - Did you have a clear vison for the theme or style of your wedding, and how did you come to it, did you collaborate on this together?

L&M - We naturally aligned on the colour palettes, textures, and the overall vibe of the day. Having originally wanted to get married in Bali, we set out to bring a slice of              Bali to us. We leaned into what the property offered and built on that, taking inspiration from the tropical plants and flowers in the garden, as well as memories        from our travels to Tahiti, Vietnam and the pacific islands. We played to our strengths from the beginning - Matt took care of the food, furniture, and music,                    while I focused on the artistic elements like stationery, drapery, and florals. It made the planning feel easy and so much fun.

CP -  Was there a long period of planning or where you more spontaneous in how it all came together?

L&M - We chipped away at it each week for a year, we were lucky to know so many amazing vendors having worked in the hospitality industry for so many years so it all felt natural to us and we knew who we wanted to work with pretty much straight away.

CP - How did you choose your wedding jewellery, and was there a special story behind any of the pieces?

L&M - I’ve always loved bold jewellery, so I knew I wanted to make a statement with my earrings for the big day. Charlotte created two beautiful custom designs for me to choose from, and I ended up wearing both, one pair for each day of our weekend of celebrations. For my wedding band, I wanted something simple, elegant and timeless, so I chose the halo eternity band that I absolutely adore. The whole process of selecting the jewellery was so much fun — I created a vision board early on and chose my dress with the overall look in mind. In the end, everything came together perfectly; I couldn't have dreamed up a better selection of wedding jewels, including my gorgeous CP engagement ring!

CP - Was there any unexpected or surprising moments during your wedding day that have come fun memories?

L&M - So many! My gorgeous little neices choreographed a special dance for us, with costumes included! Which culminated in my whole family dancing and singing Natasha Bedingfields 'Unwritten' at the top of their lungs, such a joy! A few family members also jumped up say a few words during speeches, which was unexpected but have become memories I'll never forget.

CP - Did you go on a honeymoon and if so where to?

L&M - We spent two weeks on the Tairua beachfront in Coromandel reading, swimming and napping with our beloved dogs Toby and Eddy, it was a dream and such a great way to recharge after all the celebrations.
