C - How did you meet?
T - We met on our first day at design school in Wellington. I remember her looking just as lost and nervous as me in the big Museum Building. It wasn’t for another year till our paths crossed and we went for our first date at Havana Bar.
C- Was it love at first sight?
G&T Love at first date.
C - Can you share a quirky habit of each other that you find cute or endearing?
Grace - Since we met, Tom’s had poached eggs on Vogel’s for breakfast pretty much every single morning.
Tom - We’re often out running and walking together. For whatever reason and wherever we are, it feels totally wrong if I’m not on her left and she’s not on my right.
C - What's something surprising you've learned about each other since being together?
Grace - His love & excitement for design and technology - he’ll be up at at 5am to watch live keynotes on the other side of the world.
Tom - Grace is an incredibly calm traveller and has a great curiosity for exploring new places & countries. Great example was her move to Amsterdam which inspired me to quickly pack up in NZ and join her!
C - If you could describe your relationship using only 3 words, what would they be?
G&T - Loyal, Creative & Joyful.
C - What's the most spontaneous thing you've done together?
G&T Moving overseas together.
Grace - Tom encouraged me to take an opportunity at a textile design studio in Amsterdam after graduating. I got the gig, called Air NZ to cancel my return flight.
Tom - it was my first time overseas, and I flew back alone. My first night home, wide awake around 3 AM from jet lag, I hatched a ‘simple' plan in my notes for moving overseas and joining her! The rest is history.
C - And lastly, where did you get engaged?
G&T - At sunrise on the beach of Andesite Point, Whananaki North.
