C- How did you guys meet?
N&S - For years we’d run in similar circles like 2 passing ships. But eventually we found ourselves living together in a big shared flat. There was always something between us that was beyond friendship. And as we grew closer, our feelings grew stronger. We withheld our feelings until eventually, with liquid courage we told each other how we felt. The rest is history!
C- Was it love at first sight?
N&S - Before we met each other we’d say that we didn’t believe in love at first sight. But because of our story it’s made us believers.
C- Can you share a quirky habit of each other that you find cute or endearing?
Sam - When Nicky doesn’t understand something being explained or described to her, Nickys eyes completely glaze over and I can physically see her brain shutting down. Also her complete lack of directions is hilarious
Nicky - Sam likes making anything and everything a hat, to the point I have a collection on my phone of him doing this over the years. When I’m having a bad day I’ll look through these and it always makes me laugh.
C- What's something surprising you've learned about each other since being together?
Sam - How determined Nicky is when she puts her mind to something. For example, she’s done so many epic adventures, from backpacking solo in Japan to dog sledding in Norway.
Nicky - I always knew Sam as the laid back surfer dude, but he’s actually a total creative and loves making things. I’ve definitely enjoyed the fruits of his labour, with all the cool creative elements and renos in our home. That’s all him!
C- If you could describe your relationship using only 3 words, what would they be?
N&S - Warm, colorful and growing
C- What's the most spontaneous thing you've done together?
N&S - Nicky had already bought a one way ticket to London before we had told each other our feelings, so within 6 months of our relationship, we moved to London together. After that, spontaneous was our new normal for a while - we did long distance for a year, lots of trips both together and apart, lots of festivals and random excursions. But through it all we always found home in each other.
C- And lastly, where did you get engaged?
N&S - O'neill Bay at Bethells Beach where we had a late evening picnic, ate cheese and drank wine.
